Movie Madness
February 19, 2018
We love movies. You love movies. That's why we have so many great titles for you to take home and movie-related events for you to enjoy here at the library. With the Oscars coming up, we thought this would be the perfect time to remind everyone of all the super cinematic events and resources we have available.
More Movies
We have a lot of movies, as you are probably aware, with new titles being added every week (visit our new releases page to see what DVDs and Blu-rays are coming soon). We've also increased our borrowing limit to 30 DVDs and Blu-rays. That can make for a pretty cinema-packed weekend.
More Streaming
If you can't make it in to the library to pick your flicks, why not get them delivered digitally? Library cardholders can use Hoopla to stream movies and television shows. We have also recently added the digital streaming service Kanopy. Kanopy offers thousands of documentaries, art films, and independent selections, including the Criterion Collection of classic films.
Get Recommendations
Did you know you can get staff movie recommendations on our website? Or, for personalized suggestions based on your preferences, fill out a Screen Match form. Our expert staff advisors will get to work on a list of what you should watch next.
Movie at the Library
We screen movies at the library every Friday and the first Monday of every month. This includes Oscar contenders like Dunkirk, Get Out, and The Big Sick. To see what were showing next visit our movie calendar page.
The Oscars
The 90th Annual Academy Awards ceremony is March 4, 2018. That’s a little later than usual due to the Winter Olympics, but that just means you’ll have more time to predict the winners. How many of the nominated films have you seen? There’s still time to see them all. Visit our Academy Award Nominations page for a list of nominees in the top categories. We’ll update the page after the awards ceremony.
