Volunteering
Volunteering at the library is a great way to build your skills and give back to the community. We will work with you to find a volunteer opportunity that meets your needs.
Opportunities for Adults
Current Openings
We are not seeking new volunteers at this time. To find other local opportunities, try searching volunteermatch.org.
Opportunities for Teens
Junior high and high school students interested in volunteering should fill out our summer registration form to be added to our mailing list. You can also email the teen team, or come to an upcoming teen volunteering event.
Summer Service
Volunteer with us this summer! Whether you’re looking for a weekly volunteer shift or an opportunity to drop in for an hour, we’re excited to connect with you. Complete our summer registration form to learn more and get started. You can also check out Teens in Action. Email teenteam@skokielibrary.info with questions.
During the School Year
We offer service opportunities throughout the school year. Some opportunities are only offered during school breaks or days off. Others are ongoing, like Teen Library Council, which meets once a month on Thursday afternoons. You can also check out Teens in Action, a service opportunity that allows you to earn hours independently and on your own schedule. We look forward to working with you!
Court-ordered Community Service
If you are a teen who needs community service hours to clear a ticket or fulfill a court-ordered requirement, please email the teen team. Include your name, the school you attend, the number of hours you need, and the date you need the hours to be completed. You must be 18 or under and either live in Skokie or attend a Skokie school to qualify for this kind of service. We cannot guarantee that we will be able to help you meet your court-ordered requirement but we will do our best.
