Early Childhood Teachers
The library is here for you! We work with local preschools and child care centers to help young children get ready to read. We provide supplemental classroom resources, get kids excited about books and learning, and help engage parents.

CARDS FOR TEACHERS
Skokie preschool teachers may obtain a library card to check out classroom materials. Permission from the school's principal is required. Directors of Skokie early childhood centers may authorize business cards for their staff. Educator cards and business cards must be renewed each August with a new authorization form.
View the Skokie Educator Cardholder Rights & Responsibilities or the Business Library Card Application for details.
Early Childhood staff with Skokie school or business cards may request theme bags. A librarian will select developmentally appropriate items according to the topics provided and place them on hold using the teacher’s card.
LITTLE LEARNERS SETS
For a quick storytime-to-go or a supplement to your curriculum unit, check out a Little Learners Set. Each themed-bag includes stories and non-fiction books along with a music CD and game or toy.
Use your library card for immediate access to online stories, nonfiction titles, beginning readers, music, and movies. Search for children’s content in Hoopla, Overdrive, and Tumblebook Library. Apps for each resource are available.
Preschool teachers are welcome to register their classes to attend our live, online early childhood events such as Library Dance Party on Tuesdays, Preschool Puppet Playtime on Wednesdays, and Storytime on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
Children’s librarians are available to present live, online storytimes tailored to your class’s needs or to record a video for use with remote learning. Contact us at email@example.com with your request.
Pre-recorded storytimes and science activities are also available on Skokie Public Library’s Events YouTube page.
Partner with us to host your online family events. Our Youth Services librarians will work with you to develop the right program. Contact Holly Jin to discuss potential topics and dates.
