Early Childhood Teachers
The library is here for you! We work with local preschools and child care centers to help young children get ready to read. We provide supplemental classroom resources, get kids excited about books and learning, and help engage parents.

CARDS FOR TEACHERS
Skokie preschool teachers may obtain a library card to check out classroom materials. Permission from the school's principal is required. Directors of Skokie early childhood centers may allow their staff to receive business cards. Teacher cards and business cards must be renewed each August with a new authorization form.
CARDS FOR CHILDREN
Children who live in Skokie may apply for a library card when they are able to write their first and last name.
Early childhood staff with school or business cards may request a theme bag filled with library materials each month. The bag will be checked out and ready for pick up within one week of your request.
LITTLE LEARNERS SETS
For a quick storytime-to-go or a supplement to your curriculum unit, check out a Little Learners Set. Each themed-bag includes stories and non-fiction books along with a music CD and game or toy.
Use your teacher card to share popular children’s books through the animated, talking TumbleBook Library. View a growing collection of stories, Bob Books, and easy non-fiction titles or play children’s music through the Hoopla app.
Bring your class to the Library for a tour & storytime or invite us to visit you.
- Library field trips take place when Library storytime for the public is not in session. This is usually during breaks in October-November, January, March, and May. A Library tour with stories and play time lasts approximately 75 minutes.
- School visits are available Monday-Wednesday. We can schedule two 30-minute storytimes in a row, so combining classes is encouraged. Engaging themes are predetermined by the presenting librarians.
Partner with us to host your annual family night at the library or an early literacy workshop for families at your school. Have another idea? Our Youth Services librarians will work with you to develop the right program. Contact Holly Jin to discuss potential topics and dates.
