For those long summer nights, watch some of these TV series.

Fallout Season 1 (DVD)
2025Get this itemOkie-dokie! This television adaptation of the video game franchise follows in the footsteps of The Last of Us by giving just as much weight to nuanced story building as to already-established lore. It offers its viewers plenty of time to grow to love the characters, even if those characters are cannibalistic ghouls with traumatic backstories and a tendency to lean into the greyer areas of morality. It's fun, genuinely touching, gruesome in a way that embraces kitsch, and I would trade all the Nuka-Cola in the world for a second season. Suggested by Grace.

Doctor Who: Season 1 (2024) (DVD)
2025Get this itemFinally, Doctor Who returns via the TARDIS for more adventures in time and space. Ncuti Gatwa (the first Black actor, the first African-born actor, and the first openly queer actor) plays the 15th Doctor, putting their own unique and refreshing spin on the iconic character. We meet the Doctor’s new companion Ruby Sunday, whose existence is somewhat of a mystery that the Time Lord can’t resist. Of course, the two have places to go, people to see, and a universe to save. If you haven't dipped into this long-running British sci-fi series yet, here is a good place to start and then go back. If you’re already a Whovian, enjoy. Suggested by Sharon.

Severance: Season One
2024Get this itemWhat if you could undergo a procedure to split your brain into two selves: one for work and one for the rest of life? With a fascinating premise, immersive storytelling, and excellent acting, I found this show totally addictive. Suggested by Brenna.
-
Knuckles
2024Get this itemNominated for Best Adaptation by the Game Awards, this is a powerhouse title featuring the talents of Idris Elba, rapper Kid Kudi, and so many more. Following our grumpy Echidna as he tries to teach Deputy Wade the ways of the Echidna tribe, Knuckles may have not gotten another victory chariot, but we sure are glad he got his own TV show. Suggested by Amber I.
-
True Detective: Night Country
2024Get this itemIn this anthology series, police investigations unearth the personal and professional secrets of those involved. This latest season contains fantastic Emmy-nominated performances by Jodie Foster and Kali Reis and places women at the center of its crime, the investigation of that crime, and the crime's revelation. Suggested by Brenna and Rummanah.
-
Interview with the Vampire: Season 2
2024Get this itemThis show isn’t just for fans of Anne Rice and the supernatural. It is above all about the interview–the way we tell stories about our lives and the lives of others, the way we choose to present or hide certain information, and how, even when someone tells a story that is obviously biased or untrue, sometimes that’s the only version of the story we have. But if that’s not enough to interest you, allow us to return your attention to the vampires. Suggested by Amanda, Amy G., Andrew, Rummanah, and Sharon.
-
The Night Agent: Season One
2024Get this itemYou’re in for a thrilling binge watch experience when an FBI agent answers a call that takes him into a deep and deadly conspiracy involving a highly placed mole inside the U.S. government. Suggested by Farishta.
-
My Adventures with Superman: The Complete First Season
2024Get this itemA completely fresh reimagining of our favorite Kryptonian, this is a delightful, family-friendly animated series kids and adults will both enjoy. Rather than just focusing on the Superman persona, we get the perfect balance of the dorky journalist from Metropolis and his super-powered alter ego. It's charming, features a diverse cast, and it’s a whole lot of fun. Suggested by Amber I.
-
Ted Lasso: The Richmond Way. [The Complete Series]
2024Get this itemKick back and channel your inner Ted Lasso. The story follows American football coach Ted Lasso who relocates to England to coach a soccer team, despite having no knowledge of or experience with the sport. Whether on a rewatch or just getting acquainted, this well-written Apple TV series provides plenty of laughs, heartwarming moments, endearing characters, and of course Ted’s inspirational speeches. Suggested by Sharon.
-
Evil: The Final Season
2024Get this itemThis is a great time to catch up with this wryly humorous demon-of-the-week drama. The series follows a team of ‘Assessors,’ made up of a lapsed Catholic psychologist, a practicing Catholic priest, and an atheist-by-way-of-Islam tech expert. They're investigating supernatural incidents on behalf of the Roman Catholic Church. Scary, campy, clever, and, when you get past all the dark absurdity, surprisingly frank in the way it discusses faith. Suggested by Amy G.
-
Little Bird
2023Get this itemOne of the best Canadian television dramas in recent years, the series focuses on a First Nations woman who was adopted at age five by a white, Jewish couple. Now about to get married, Esther realizes that she can’t take a step further until she finds her birth family and learns the true circumstances surrounding her adoption. This fictionalized account is based on actual events and remembrances of those who were victims of the Sixties Scoop, and you’ll definitely feel all the feelings for Bezhig Little Bird/Esther Rosenblum. Suggested by Sharon.
-
Mrs Sidhu Investigates: Series 1
2023Get this itemAre you a fan of British cozy whodunits? We got you covered. You’ll be entertained by the clever writing, the playful banter between characters, the mouthwatering food/recipe references, and the wonderful Meera Syal as Mrs. Sidhu, caterer and amateur sleuth. Suggested by Rummanah and Sharon.
-
The Expanse: Season Six
2023Get this itemIf you have any interest in sci-fi television, you should watch this series, which is based on the novels by James S. A. Corey. With bold and unique visuals, both in terms of effects and cinematography, and fascinating political intrigue, this show is worth your time from its ambitious beginning to the satisfying end. Suggested by Amy G.
-
Players: Season One
2022Get this itemFresh off the immensely quotable small-stakes true-crime mockumentary American Vandal, Dan Perrault and Tony Yacenda turned their lampooning prowess to sports parody. This mockumentary follows a League of Legends esports team and the fight for power between their two star players. Bouncing between cringeworthy arrested development and heartfelt vulnerability, the show depicts the pressures of fame and social media in a hyper-specific subculture, and the gripping, near-familial relationships among teammates, while serving laughs and esport minutiae along the way. Suggested by Amy G.
