  • Joey: The Story of Joe Biden

    2020 by Biden, Jill

    I enjoyed this anecdotal picture book biography about President-elect Joe Biden (aka Joey) written by his wife and esteemed author Kathleen Krull. The illustrations by Amy June Bates warmly depict the character lessons Joey/Joe learned throughout his life. Recommended by Mandy.

  • Our Friend Hedgehog: The Story of Us

    2020 by Castillo, Lauren

    A sweet story about a hedgehog who loses a friend and, on the way to find him, makes a whole lot of new friends. Reminiscent of Winnie the Pooh, this book is a great read-aloud for younger readers and a nice choice for early chapter-book readers. Recommended by Caitlin S.

    The art alone will make you want to read this book over and over. My daughter and I spent a lot of time poring over each pet and thinking about whether it's more important to be perfect or free.     I've been waiting for this story since I was a mermaid-obsessed kid! Here, Melody opts for legs: not for love at first sight, but for curiosity and friendship. Along the way, she discovers that her powerful voice is something she must never give up. The story is fantastic, and there's so much to look at in Pinkney's underwater world.
