Professor Amina Norman-Hawkins of Columbia College Chicago will show how hip-hop differs from other music genres. She will discuss its enormous influence on popular culture, including language and fashion. She will also explore its evolution and the influence of technology on the music. Producer, DJ, and educator Coolout Chris will provide a mini-performance that encourages audience participation.
