The Maxwell Street Klezmer Band's upbeat treatment of Yiddish and klezmer music engages audiences with warmth and humor.

In 1993, Lori Lippitz founded the Maxwell Street Klezmer Band and the Klezmer Music Foundation. She is also the founder of the Junior Klezmer Orchestra and the Salaam-Shalom Music Project. She has produced five klezmer CDs. Lori sings in Yiddish, Hebrew, Ladino and Russian.

Violinist Alex Koffman has conducted and composed for Maxwell Street since 1990. He is an immigrant from Belarus and a graduate of the Conservatory of Minsk. In 2015, Alex was a featured soloist in Lyric Opera of Chicago's klezmer opera, The Property.
