Introduction to 3D Modeling and Tinkercad

Sunday, September 8, 2024
1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
Radmacher Room

3D modeling and printing help kids explore space. This workshop introduces some of those tools, including the free software TinkerCAD.

Through play, on and off the computer, participants will explore 3D modeling. From working on a giant graph on the floor and mapping out points on a cube, to translating clay sculptures to digital environments, kids will navigate, shift, and play with space using geometric principles and applied learning. A brief history of 3-D modeling will be followed by a discussion of print-and-play options currently available for free online.

Laura Prieto-Velasco is a college-level design and fine art professor. Background knowledge of mathematics and basic geometry is helpful but not necessary.

Computers will be provided. Limited to 10 kids ages 8-12.

Registration begins September 1.
