Set in 1953 London, veteran actor Bill Nighy plays a long-time civil servant who makes changes to his life after he receives a devastating medical diagnosis.
Acclaimed author Kazuo Ishiguro wrote the screenplay, adapted from Akira Kurosawa’s 1952 movie Ikiru, which in turn was inspired by Leo Tolstoy’s novella The Death of Ivan Ilyich. The film received two Oscar nominations, for Best Actor and Best Adapted Screenplay.
