Learn more about fair housing rights and ways to take action when housing discrimination occurs.

This presentation covers the basic fair housing rights and responsibilities that both renters and housing providers need to know.

We will cover the broad protections in the federal Fair Housing Act, discuss local protections in Illinois and Cook County, and help community members understand how to recognize violations and take action.

Some of the topics include reasonable accommodations for tenants, source-of-income protections for people who pay their rent using non-wage income, protections against discrimination based on a person's national origin, and the rights of people applying for housing who have prior involvement in the justice system.
