Article Discussion: The Wild World of Music

Tuesday, August 8, 2023
7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Cosmos Room

Library staff facilitate a discussion of a thought-provoking article.

Neuroscientist David Sulzer is one of the world's foremost experts on the workings of the human brain. In recent years, he has applied cutting-edge technology to the mystery of how our brains, and those of nonhuman animals, create and respond to music.

Avant-garde composer Dave Soldier has been "a fixture of New York's downtown music scene since the early [1980s]." In recent years, he has followed his muse to the artistic possibilities of music made by animals. Did we mention that they're the same person?

Read or listen to the article in The New Yorker, and come with questions, impressions, and curiosity to share. This article appeared in the April 3, 2023 print edition with the title "Crossover Artist."
