Tuesday, June 6, 2023
7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Business and Community Center

Learn about Skokie's shift to once-a-week refuse collection and the addition of compost options.

As part of Skokie's sustainability initiatives, the Village will be reducing refuse collection to once a week and adding additional composting options.

The Skokie Sustainable Environment Advisory Commission is hosting this program with Skokie's Public Works Department so you can get more information about the changes in Skokie's refuse collection and how to participate in the composting program.

Topics include changes in the refuse collection schedule, options for obtaining additional waste toters (if necessary), and the rationale for the changed collection schedule. Additional information will also be presented on the environmental importance of composting, options for composting in Skokie, and the horticultural benefits of compost.

This is a hybrid event with the option to participate in person or on Zoom. Online participants will receive the Zoom link in their confirmation email.

In-person participants will receive a four-gallon compost bucket for taking food scraps to the new compost drop-off sites. Online participants will receive details on where to pick up their free bucket.

If you have questions about this event after registration has closed, please email the events team or call the library at 847-673-7774. Limited to 24 in-person participants.
