An Evening with Ibram X. Kendi: Online Event
Monday, November 9, 2020
6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Ibram X. Kendi is an award-winning author, historian, and one of the country's leading antiracist voices.
He will discuss his book How to Be an Antiracist, which asks us to think about what an antiracist society might look like and how we can play an active role in building it. It is an essential book for anyone who wants to go beyond an awareness of racism to the next step of contributing to the formation of a truly just and equitable society.
The New York Times calls How to Be an Antiracist “the most courageous book to date on the problem of race in the Western mind.” Kendi is the founding director of Boston University's Center for Antiracist Research and was recently named one of Time magazine's 100 most influential people in the world.
This evening conversation will be moderated by Natalie Moore, who covers segregation and inequality for Chicago’s WBEZ. Her enterprise reporting has tackled race, housing, economic development, food injustice, and violence. Moore’s work has been broadcast on the BBC, Marketplace and NPR’s Morning Edition, All Things Considered, and Weekend Edition. She is the author of The South Side: A Portrait of Chicago and American Segregation, winner of the 2016 Chicago Review of Books award for nonfiction, and was awarded a Buzzfeed best nonfiction book of 2016 honor.
