YIVO Presents an Afternoon of Yiddish Nostalgia

Bibi Marcell, vocalist, and Gail Mangurten, pianist, will perform "An Afternoon of Yiddish Nostalgia."

Bibi Marcell has been performing throughout the world for many years, spending most of her time in the Chicago area. She began her singing career with her father, Noah Marcell, and later joined the Chicago Klezmer Ensemble. In addition to performing extensively on her own, Bibi is currently a featured vocalist with the Maxwell Street Klezmer Band. Between singing engagements, Bibi works as a cantorial soloist and is Religious Education Director for Congregation Hakafa in Glencoe, IL.

Gail Mangurten is a graduate of Indiana University in Bloomington. She has played with musical theater groups such as Tuxedo Junction, and regularly performs with the College of DuPage Jazz Band. She is a member of the Maxwell Street Klezmer Band and has played with them nationally and internationally. Gail also performs with Jazmer and with Shirlee Todd as part of a piano-vocal duo, as well as with other local performers.

Tickets will be distributed 30 minutes before the performance begins. Limited to 196 participants.
