Court Ordered Community Service
Teens who have been ordered to complete at least 10 hours of volunteer service may be able to do them at the library. Teens, age 14 through their senior year of high school, must be enrolled in a Skokie school district. Please call or email to schedule an interview with the volunteer coordinator (required). Persons under the age of 18 need the signature of a parent or guardian to perform service hours at the library.
We are currently seeking volunteers for the following programs:
- Dog therapy programming assistant
- Early literacy volunteer for infants/toddlers
- Homebound book driver
- Let’s Get Together book club facilitator
- Resource/theme bag volunteer
To apply, please submit a volunteer application. Please note that applicants must be at least 19 years old for the homebound delivery opportunity and 21 years old for the other current openings.
High school students interested in earning volunteer hours during the school year can serve as teen project leaders for family activities on specific Community Volunteering Days at the library. Our next Community Volunteering Day will be Monday, October 14, 2019. Contact Laurel Johnson for more information or to express interest.
In addition to our open volunteer opportunities, we have a number of special programs that need volunteers. Please inquire at the library.
