Volunteering at the library is a great way to build your skills and give back to the community. We will work with you to find a volunteer opportunity that meets your needs.
Opportunities for Adults
Please contact Dawn Wlezien for more information.
We are currently seeking volunteers for the following programs:
To apply, please submit a volunteer application. Please note that applicants must be at least 21 years old.
Opportunities for Teens
Junior high and high school students interested in earning volunteer hours should contact the young adult team for information or to express interest.
Summer volunteering is on! We are designing service options based on what you want to do. Whether you’re looking for a weekly volunteer shift or an opportunity to drop in for an hour, we’re excited to connect with you. Fill out our interest survey to learn more and get started.
During the School Year
We offer service opportunities throughout the school year. Some are on specific days, like Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and during school breaks. Others are ongoing, like Teen Library Collaborative, which meets weekly on Thursday afternoons. The best way to get involved in school-year service is to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and attend Teen Library Collaborative.
Court Ordered Community Service
Teens who have been ordered to complete at least 10 hours of volunteer service may be able to do them at the library. Teens, age 14 through their senior year of high school, must be enrolled in a Skokie school district. Please call or email to schedule an interview with the Dawn Wlezien (required). Persons under the age of 18 need the signature of a parent or guardian to perform service hours at the library. We are happy to work with you. Please contact us to discuss specific requirements.
