Board of Trustees

Board members are elected for six-year terms in consolidated April elections. The Board is governed by the Bylaws of the Board of Trustees.

Our Board of Trustees generally meets at 6:30 pm on the second Wednesday of each month. Meetings are held in the Business & Community Center on the second floor. The meetings are open to the public, but room capacity may be limited due to social distancing requirements. All attendees must self-screen for COVID-19 symptoms and wear a mask unless fully vaccinated. Meetings are livestreamed on our YouTube Events channel.

Please read our policies regarding public comment at Board meetings and remote participation.

Trustee Opening

Our unpaid, nonpartisan Board of Trustees seeks an individual to serve out a term through April 2023. Trustees should be familiar with the community, keep current on library standards and trends, advocate for the library in the community, attend monthly meetings, set policies for the library, and support the director and staff in carrying out library initiatives. Trustees must live in Skokie.

Please read the following statements to learn more about the library’s vision, mission, goals, and values.

If you appreciate the library’s role in the community and are interested in serving as a trustee, please email a resume and  cover letter. Applicants will be considered on a rolling basis until the position is filled.

We seek those who share our passion for serving the people of Skokie. We strive to reflect our community through our dedication to equity, diversity, and inclusion. We strongly urge people of color, people who identify as LGBTQ+, people of all ages, and people with disabilities to apply.
