In a community as diverse as Skokie, we benefit from rich culinary traditions and the new flavors and dishes that emerge when food traditions are combined. Join us for a full menu of food-focused events and activities.

Authors June Jo Lee and Jacqueline Briggs Martin will discuss their book Roy Choi and the Street Food Remix.

Eat Street Meat: Indian Food on the Go

When in Mexico, you may try tacos. When in Greece, you may try a gyro. When in India, what street food might you try? Find out what flavorful items are commonly seen and sold on street-side carts.

Learn how to make your own home versions of favorite Indian street foods with chef Indrani Hausner of monbool. Limited to 30 participants.


Family Cooking Workshop

Monday, November 26, 2018, 5:30 pm

Develop your cooking skills with your family. We'll spend an hour preparing and cooking our meal, then enjoy our dishes in a family-style dinner. Limited to 30 participants in grades K-2 and family.

Adult caregivers are required to participate with their children. Register all family members who will attend. We may not be able to accommodate dietary restrictions.


Be the Chef

Create yummy snacks, hone your cooking skills, and develop your inner chef. Limited to 20 participants in grades 3-5.

Children younger than 8 years old must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.


Shaking the Salt Habit

Learn about common sources of salt (sodium), how to read a nutrition label, and ways to reduce the amount of salt in your diet with Namratha Kandula, MD.


STEAM Engines Club

Science, technology, engineering, arts, and math can unravel the mysteries and wonders of how the world works. Explore STEAM in a hands-on, fun way. Limited to 16 participants in grades K-2.

Join Derrick Tung, owner of Paulie Gee's Logan Square, as he shares how he and his staff remix ingredients and techniques to create three new pizzas each month.

Learn how his team approaches each new pizza concept. Taste and play with ingredients as well sample pizzas at this demo. Limited to 50 participants.

Use Instagram to Share Your Love of Food

Learn to use a 21st-century method to share recipes, find meal tips, and tempt your friends' taste buds. Bring your own device to the program and learn how you can enhance Instagram images. Limited to 10 participants.
