Pages Through History: Capitol Men
Wednesday, February 28, 2018
7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Book Discussion Room
Join us for a discussion of Philip Dray's "Capitol Men: The Epic Story of Reconstruction through the Lives of the First Black Congressmen."
After the Civil War, African Americans were elected to Congress and other public offices in record numbers. They faced discrimination as they advocated for needed reforms. Dray provides a fresh perspective on the Reconstruction era as he brings to life forgotten pioneers in the struggle for civil rights.
