Jim Green: Songwriter Singer Guitarist

Sunday, June 25, 2017
3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Petty Auditorium

Jim Green draws forth musical inspiration from nature and the human spirit in a fresh and compelling way.

This Chicago native creates enchanting new age finger-style instrumentals to percussively driven solo acoustic guitar folk/rock songs using percussive rhythms, harmonics, and tapping with a piano-like approach that is both musically and visually stimulating. He has shared the stage with notable musicians such as Johnny Rivers, Lukas Nelson, Credence Clearwater Revisited, and Muriel Anderson. Although Jim has garnered much interest for his unusual percussive playing style, he considers himself a songwriter first and a guitarist second. Because of this he often quotes his biggest musical influence, Michael Hedges, who said, "I'm not trying to play the guitar. I'm trying to play music. That's the difference right there."
