Planting for Pollinators: Earth Day

What exactly are pollinators? Why are they so important to our world?

In celebration of both springtime and Earth Day (Monday, April 22), Oakton College naturalist Amanda Krause gives a brief introduction to the crucial role small creatures play in making sure plants are pollinated and can reproduce.

Beginning at the library, learn some of the buzz about pollinators and what sort of plants are important for them to survive and thrive. Then, venture together over to Oakton College (a 10 minute, .6 mile walk) to view their pollinator garden space and help plant critical flora. With the support of a power drill and a plan, by the end of this session, participants will have planted hundreds of new plants for pollinators.

Dress in clothes suitable for moving and getting messy. Bring garden gloves if you would like. All other supplies will be provided. Limited to 15 participants.
