Library staff facilitate a discussion of a thought-provoking article.

For lifelong museum fans, recent years have brought questions about just how the wonderful things that we love so much got there--and whether they might rightfully belong to somebody else.

In "Troubled Treasures," National Geographic takes a wide angle look at the issue, showing how "the 19th Century museum" is dealing with the reality that "each object's biography is a collision of cultures and influences."

Moving from the general to the local, "Nepal Wants a Sacred Necklace Returned. But a Major Museum Still Keeps It On Display" tells the story of how the Art Institute of Chicago spent years courting a famed collector, only to pay a price for their willful ignorance. A collaboration between ProPublica and Crain's Chicago Business.

Read "Troubled Treasures" and "Nepal Wants a Sacred Necklace Returned," and come with questions, impressions, and curiosity to share.
