Through the Eyes of a Friend: Online Event
Tuesday, August 1, 2023
7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Explore the world of Anne Frank and other young people during the Holocaust though a dynamic combination of live theater and archival film footage.
What does it mean to survive? Bear witness to the world of Anne Frank and other young people living through the Holocaust, from the point of view of Anne Frank's "best friend," Sarah. Sarah is a historically accurate composite character, based on the testimonies of those who knew Anne Frank, as well as other victims, resisters, and survivors of the Holocaust and World War II. Like Anne Frank, Sarah is a young Jewish girl in Amsterdam when Hitler comes to power in the 1930s. Her experiences under Nazi rule, in hiding, and through the concentration camps parallel Anne’s story.
This event is presented by historian and performer Elgin Kelley, who started working with Living Voices in 2008. She studied at Webster Conservatory of Theatre Arts and Drew University.
It will be a Zoom simulcast of a live performance at Aurora Public Library. Register for this event with an email address, and the Zoom link will be shared the morning of the event.
