The ability to read is an indicator of lifelong success, yet 37% of 4th graders in the United States read below basic levels.

The documentary The Right to Read sheds light on the challenges facing students who struggle with reading and highlights the urgent need for action to improve literacy outcomes for all children. Through interviews with experts, educators, and families, the film explores the systemic issues contributing to the reading crisis and offers concrete solutions for improvement.

Drop in to watch the film, then panelists will discuss support for emerging and struggling readers in Skokie. Whether you are a parent, an educator, or are simply interested in literacy and community success, this event is an opportunity to learn and engage.
