Naomi Hirahara's mystery traces the life of a Japanese-American family during World War II.

Chicago, 1944. Twenty-year-old Aki Ito and her parents have been released from the Manzanar camp where they were incarcerated, and they have relocated to Chicago to be reunited with Aki's older sister, Rose. But Rose has died in a train accident, and Aki must uncover Rose's secrets.
