Journalist and linguist Amanda Montell uses a combination of interviews, anecdotes, and scientific and psychological research to examine how cults use language to gain power.

She also examines how this has pervaded our entire culture, from notorious cults to modern startups and social media.

This discussion is in collaboration with Morton Grove Public Library.
