This month we're discussing a historical novel by Isabel Allende.

Raised in Valparaíso, Chile, Eliza Sommers meets and falls in love with Joaquín Andieta, a lowly clerk with ambitious dreams. When gold is discovered in the hills of northern California, Joaquín and Eliza head north to seek their fortune. With the help of her new friend, Tao Chi'en, Eliza soon comes to discover that her search for love has actually become a quest of personal freedom.

Daughter of Fortune can be checked out through all library eBook platforms, including Hoopla, where copies are always available.
