Making Your Own Decisions: Guardianship and Alternatives

Representatives from Equip for Equality, an organization advancing the rights of people with disabilities, will discuss aspects of the complex issue of guardianship.

Starting with a brief background on the decision-making process, this presentation will cover alternatives to guardianship, including supportive decision-making, including a review of Illinois guardianship law and the definition of guardianship.

Processes and the rights of wards and guardians, guardians' responsibilities, and what restoration or modification means in this context, will be addressed, concluding with time for questions and answers.
