Women's Role in Resisting Slavery: Art and History Workshop for Teens

Tuesday, March 29, 2022
3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Radmacher Room

In this two-part art and history workshop, learn about how women contributed to both the abolition of slavery and the Underground Railroad, and create a piece of art incorporating these themes.

In honor of Women’s History Month, scholar and artist Deena Uzzell will walk us through the stories of several key abolitionists, as well as women who supported the Underground Railroad.

Then, we’ll learn and practice collaging techniques and create art that reflects the monumental histories explored through Deena’s work.

Participants will have the option of displaying their work in the library. Limited to 15 participants who must follow the library’s pandemic safety guidance. This event is for teens in grades 9-12.

Online registration is closed.
