Wondering how to get a story from your life onto the page? This workshop will help you jump-start the process of crafting your story for legacy, publication, or discovery.

Ellen Blum Barish will discuss ways to begin writing personal essays or essay collections, memoir, or family histories. Whether you want to return to a writing practice, write a story for legacy, or prepare for publication, this workshop will get your creative juices flowing and provide you with concrete steps for getting started.

Skokie based, Ellen Blum Barish is the author of the memoir Seven Springs, a collection of essays titled Views from the Home Office Window, and a contributor to Chicago Storytellers from Stage to Page. Her essays have been published in Tablet, Brevity, Full Grown People, Literary Mama, and have aired on WBEZ Chicago Public Radio.

She is the founding editor of the literary publication Thread, which earned four notables in Best American Essays. Ellen has taught writing at Northwestern University and Columbia College Chicago as well as Story Studio Chicago, Off Campus Writers Workshop, and Ragdale.
