Volunteering at the Library

Last year, over 300 volunteers donated nearly 10,000 hours of their time and expertise to help connect the community to our library programs and services.

Skokie Public Library's volunteer program is growing, and every facet of the library is enriched by it. From ESL conversation, to preschool storytime readers; one-on-one computer assistance to homebound book delivery, volunteers make it all possible. We are grateful to each and every one of them!

Volunteering at the library is a great way to use your talents, provide valuable service to the community, learn new skills and meet great people. Featured opportunities are listed below:

  • Docents for an upcoming special exhibit (September to October,2016)
  • Teen volunteers to assist with after school homework help
  • Teen volunteers to assist in Youth Computer Lab
  • Reading to local preschool children
  • Delivering books to homebound patrons
  • English as a second language conversation participants
  • Book donation sorters/ used book sale helpers

To apply for any of these opportunities, please stop by the library's Community Engagement office on the first floor.
