Become our next maker in residence
Each maker will be selected for a 4-week residency in Skokie Public Library’s makerspace: the Studio. Selected artists will share their artistic expertise with the community on how creation links with personal and collective narratives. During this time, the Studio will be available to them along with a modest supply budget for their work, which will go on display in the Studio. This role includes facilitating interactive programs that bridge artistic innovation with community engagement to empower patrons through making. The maker-in-residence will have access to the sewing machines, embroidery machines, 3D printers, laser cutter and engravers, vinyl cutters, and various painting and craft supplies.
Programs will be in person and will be developed in collaboration with the Experiential Learning Supervisor. The maker in residence will work 12 hours per week which include “meet the maker hours” to support patrons and answer questions in their field.
During the Residency
The maker in residence will:
- Create a work focused on personal and collective narratives.
- Have their work displayed in the library.
- Access to all machines and tools in the Studio.
