Introducing SkokieWiki

Where do you go to find and share information about your community? The answer probably depends on the specific info you're trying to find. But what if there was a one-stop site for all things Skokie; A place where you could find child care, share your opinion on the best bagel shop, and wax nostalgic about your favorite childhood park? Meet SkokieWiki, Skokie’s new online portal, where you can do all of those things and more!

SkokieWiki is part of the LocalWiki project, which is "a grassroots effort to collect, share and open the world's local knowledge." There are currently over 700 LocalWiki communities, which exist across all seven continents. SkokieWiki is easy to use and requires no technical skills. The site belongs to the community; anyone can add or change content on the site. All perspectives are welcomed and appreciated--everyone has something unique to share, especially YOU!

Don't know how to get started? I'm here to help. I’m Nitoshia, the Community Informatics Librarian at Skokie Public Library. I’m working to facilitate community discussion, encourage contributions to SkokieWiki, and answer your questions. I’m looking forward to collaborating with you to deepen our understanding of our Village and connect with our neighbors in more meaningful ways.

Get involved by visiting www.skokiewiki.org. You don't need to create an account, but if you do, you can take credit for introducing your neighbors to their new favorite restaurant!
